Creating a Token

Complete guide to launching your own meme token on GoonPad.

Before You Start

Requirements

• [x] Solana wallet (Phantom, Backpack, etc.)
• [x] ~0.5 SOL in your wallet (for creation fees + initial liquidity)
• [x] Token image (PNG/JPG, max 2MB)
• [x] Token idea and branding

Costs

Token Creation Fee: ~0.2 SOL

• Smart contract deployment
• Metadata storage
• Initial bonding curve setup

Initial Liquidity (Optional): 0.1 - 1 SOL

• Buy your own tokens to kickstart trading
• Creates initial price momentum
• Recommended but not required

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Connect Wallet

1. Visit goonpad.dev
2. Click "Connect Wallet"
3. Select your wallet and approve connection
4. Ensure you have enough SOL (check balance in top-right)

Step 2: Open Launch Modal

1. Click "Create Token" button (usually in navbar or hero section)
2. Launch modal will appear with form fields

Step 3: Fill Token Details

Token Name

• Full name of your token
• Example: "Goon Coin"
• Max 32 characters
• Can include spaces and emojis

Token Symbol (Ticker)

• Short abbreviation (2-8 characters)
• Example: "GOON"
• All caps recommended
• Cannot include spaces

Description

• Brief description of your token (optional)
• Max 200 characters
• Explain what makes it unique
• Use for marketing and community building

Token Image

• Upload image (PNG, JPG, or GIF)
• Recommended size: 400x400px
• Max file size: 2MB
• Will be stored on IPFS

Image Best Practices

• Use square images (1:1 aspect ratio)
• High quality but compressed
• Clear and recognizable at small sizes
• Represents your brand/meme

Step 4: Configure Settings (Optional)

Initial Buy Amount

• How much SOL to spend on your own tokens
• Recommended: 0.1 - 0.5 SOL
• Creates initial liquidity
• Shows commitment to your token

Slippage Tolerance

• Default: 1% (usually fine)
• Increase if transaction fails
• Max: 5%

Step 5: Review and Confirm

1. Review all details - Double-check name, symbol, and image

2. Read the warnings

   • Token creation is permanent
   • Cannot change name/symbol after launch
   • Creation fee is non-refundable

3. Click "Create Token"

4. Approve in Wallet

   • Your wallet will pop up
   • Review the transaction
   • Approve to proceed

Step 6: Wait for Confirmation

• Transaction typically takes 5-30 seconds
• Don't close browser during creation
• You'll see progress indicator

When successful:

Monitor Performance

Track your token's metrics:

• Current Price - Real-time bonding curve price
• Market Cap - Total value of all tokens
• Holders - Number of unique wallets
• Volume - Total SOL traded
• Progress to Graduation - % toward 85 SOL

Creator Rewards

As your token is traded, you earn fees!

How Fees Accumulate

Every trade on your token:

1.75% platform fee → Nut Jar
├─ 30% goes to you (creator)
└─ 70% to platform/protocol

Claiming Fees

1. Navigate to your token page
2. Click "Claim Rewards"
3. See accumulated fees
4. Click "Claim" and approve in wallet
5. SOL sent to your wallet

Claiming Strategy

Wait until you have a meaningful amount before claiming to save on transaction fees. Even 0.1 SOL is worth claiming!

• [ ] Copyrighted - Don't steal others' art
• [ ] Explicit - Keep it SFW (platform rules)

Marketing

• [x] Engage Early - Talk to buyers immediately

• [x] Create Content - Memes, videos, tweets
• [x] Be Transparent - Honest about your token
• [ ] Spam - Don't annoy people
• [ ] Make Promises - No guarantees on price

Common Issues

"Insufficient SOL Balance"

• You need more SOL in your wallet
• Get SOL from faucet (devnet) or exchange (mainnet)

"Transaction Failed"

• Try increasing slippage tolerance
• Check internet connection
• Ensure wallet is unlocked

"Image Upload Failed"

• File might be too large (max 2MB)
• Try compressing image
• Use PNG or JPG format

"Token Name Taken"

• Choose a different name
• Add unique modifier (V2, 2.0, etc.)

Token Graduation

When your token hits 85 SOL market cap, it automatically graduates to Raydium AMM!

What Changes?

• Trading moves to Raydium DEX
• Increased liquidity
• Listed on Jupiter aggregator
• Permanent liquidity lock
