Choosing a Wallet

GoonPad supports all Solana-compatible wallets. Here are the most popular:

Setting Up Phantom (Step-by-Step)

1. Install Extension

Visit phantom.app
Click "Download"
Select your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge)
Click "Add to Browser"
Pin extension to toolbar

2. Create Wallet

Click Phantom icon in browser
Select "Create a new wallet"
Set a strong password
Click "Continue"

3. Backup Seed Phrase

Critical Step

Your seed phrase (recovery phrase) is the ONLY way to recover your wallet. Never share it with anyone!

Write down all 12 words in order
Store in a safe place (not on computer)
Verify words in correct order
Click "Continue"

4. Complete Setup

Confirm seed phrase by selecting words
Set up biometric unlock (optional)
Click "Finish"

Connecting to GoonPad

1. Visit GoonPad

Navigate to goonpad.dev

2. Click "Connect Wallet"

Button is in top-right corner of navbar

3. Select Wallet

Click "Phantom" (or your wallet)
Wallet popup will appear

4. Approve Connection

Review requested permissions:
- View wallet address ✅
- Request transaction approval ✅
- Read token balances ✅
Click "Connect"
Wallet icon appears in navbar (you're connected!)

Network Configuration

Make sure you're on the correct network:

Devnet (For Testing)

Open Phantom settings (click avatar → Settings)
Scroll to "Developer Settings"
Enable "Testnet Mode"
Select "Devnet"

Get free SOL: faucet.solana.com

Mainnet (For Production)

Open Phantom settings
Disable "Testnet Mode"
Network automatically set to "Mainnet Beta"

Buy SOL: Use exchange (Coinbase, Binance, etc.)

Getting SOL

Option 1: Faucet (Devnet Only)

Copy your wallet address:
- Open Phantom
- Click address at top
- Click "Copy address"
Visit faucet.solana.com
Paste address and request SOL
Wait ~30 seconds for SOL to arrive

Limits: Usually 1-2 SOL per request

Option 2: Exchange (Mainnet)

Create Exchange Account
- Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, etc.
- Complete KYC verification
Buy SOL
- Deposit fiat (USD, EUR, etc.)
- Buy SOL
Withdraw to Phantom
- Go to exchange withdrawal page
- Enter your Phantom address
- Select Solana network (not Ethereum!)
- Confirm withdrawal
Wait for Transfer
- Usually 1-5 minutes
- Check Phantom for arrival

Option 3: Swap (If You Have Other Crypto)

If you have other Solana tokens:

Open Phantom
Click "Swap"
Select token → SOL
Enter amount
Confirm swap

Wallet Security

Best Practices

✅ DO:

Keep seed phrase offline and safe
Use strong, unique password
Enable biometric unlock
Verify all transaction details
Keep browser and wallet updated
Use hardware wallet for large amounts

❌ DON'T:

Share seed phrase with anyone (even "support")
Store seed phrase digitally
Approve suspicious transactions
Click links in DMs
Connect to unknown websites
Keep large amounts in hot wallet

Recognizing Scams

Common scam tactics:

Fake Support Messages

❌ "Your wallet is locked, click here to recover"
❌ "Airdrop available, enter seed phrase"
❌ "Phantom support" in DMs (they never DM first)

Malicious Approvals

❌ Transaction requesting excessive permissions
❌ Unknown token transfers
❌ Wallet drainage contracts

Phishing Sites

Managing Tokens

View Your Tokens

In Phantom:

Main screen shows all tokens
Click token for details
See balance, value, price chart

Send Tokens

Click token
Click "Send"
Enter recipient address (or scan QR)
Enter amount
Review details
Confirm

Receive Tokens

Click "Receive"
Copy address or show QR code
Share with sender

Troubleshooting

Wallet Won't Connect

Refresh page - Try reloading GoonPad
Check extension - Ensure Phantom is unlocked
Clear cache - Browser settings → Clear cache
Disable other wallets - Temporarily disable Backpack/Solflare
Update extension - Check for Phantom updates

Transaction Failing

Check SOL balance - Need SOL for fees (~0.00001 SOL)
Increase slippage - Try 1-3% slippage
Wait and retry - Network might be congested
Check network - Devnet vs Mainnet mismatch?

Can't See Tokens

Wrong network? - Switch to correct network
Transaction pending? - Wait for confirmation
Refresh - Click refresh icon in Phantom
Add manually - Settings → Manage token list

Lost Seed Phrase

No Recovery Possible

If you lost your seed phrase AND can't access your wallet, there is NO WAY to recover it. Your funds are permanently lost.

Prevention:

Write down seed phrase immediately
Store in multiple safe locations
Consider metal backup plates

Wallet Drained/Hacked

If your wallet was compromised:

Don't panic - Assets might be recoverable
Create new wallet immediately
Transfer remaining funds - Move to new wallet fast
Revoke approvals - Use revoke.cash
Never use compromised wallet again

How it likely happened:

Clicked phishing link
Shared seed phrase
Malware on computer
Approved malicious transaction
